Julie and I have been arguing over many things since we tied the knot and it came to the point where we just ignored and stopped talking to each other. As I mentioned, we had a discussion together on where things went wrong but she wasn’t ready for it yet. She couldn’t take it and went on being defensive for things we didn’t agree upon.

I tried to talk to her and took several measures to figure out how to stay married happily together. I suggested we separate for the time being, thinking that we would start to miss each other and get back together stronger. She agreed.

During that period, I desperately tried to figure out how to stay married. Marriage counseling, friends and family couldn’t help much. I resorted to seek for advice on the internet. I wasn’t necessarily looking for a course on how to save my marriage but that was when I came across Amy Waterman’s Save My Marriage Today e-course and book. To be totally honest, I was a bit hesitant to try it. You can read my review of it here.

I wasn’t the best computer man around so having to download a book and then taking a class online was slightly intimidating but I wanted to save my marriage with Julie. Let’s be honest, imagine how many infomercials and the likes appear on TV every night promising to do this or that, but you know it’s all a scam? Well, when I opened it, I knew that this was what I needed. I was truly impressed by Save My Marriage Today’s and I’ll tell you why.

It has 20 chapters and during the period we were separated, I read the book from cover to cover twice. The course allowed me to understand my mistakes in my relationship with my wife. If I were to ask my friends or family, the would have said nothing and I would never been able to see what I was doing to my wife. Also, I was hesitant to seek friends and family for advice because they can be a bit judgmental. That being said, the advice from Amy Waterman’s Save My Marriage Today book made more sense to me than listening to the marriage counselor.

This e-course also does a great job addressing the lack of physical intimacy in our relationship. Although a bit embarrassing to discuss our sexless marriage right here, it wasn’t as bad as I thought. Amy gave me many tips to add that extra level of intimacy into our relationship (which wasn’t there before!)

Well, every product has it’s own shortcomings and I’ll quickly tell you what I didn’t like!

• Firstly, it was a lengthy book! It’s about 150+ pages and 35 exercise included with it. The language is very polished and it’s surprisingly easy to read. There are 6 bonus books included and I find “‘How to be Happy!” and “‘Seven Ways to Live Life to the Max” most enjoyable to read. Although it took lots of time to go through them, it was worth the read.
• The ‘Love Bank‘ concept introduced by the book was not properly conveyed and this idea was originated from Dr Williard Haley’s “His Needs, Her Needs: Building an Affair-Proof Marriage” book. For those who are interested, this book explains the concept in a greater detail and I recommend you understand the concept because it’s very important!
• Although there were many case studies included in the book, I felt the author could have included more to illustrate their key points. Nevertheless, the knowledge I gained was useful and everything worked out fine for me.

My Happy Ending!

Most importantly, this book has taught me how to handle not only my own faults but also my wife’s.

I learned what a relationship between married couples should be like and in hindsight, I truly believe that this guide is tailored for a wide variety of people having difficulties in their marriage (even for the divorced!). The information in this course is now the pillars of my own relationship with my wife and I recommend this course to anyone!

Now I realize begging, pleading, being desperate and volatile was one of the main reasons why it made me more unattractive and our relationship worse. The ‘New’ me created from the book is now very appealing to my wife. I’ve vowed to communicate openly to my wife and being happy with myself is a huge key to my marriage. The things I learned from the book have been put into good practice and the results are pretty convincing.

I believe if you work through this course like I did, you will not only be able to save your marriage but also rebuild the foundation for a better and stronger relationship with your partner. Sometimes I wonder if the hardships I endured was actually a blessing in disguise because with this book, I’ve created an even healthier relationship with my wife!

Often, the golden question every troubled spouse is asking. Whether you are learning how to save your marriage from a divorce, after an affair or separation, you are doing it alone, You must realize that this has to change because just as it takes “two to tango“, the principles are the same.

Marital problems can’t be solved by one person alone so you have to believe that you can succeed even if you are the only one trying to save the relationship. Why? Because it only takes only one person to adjust how you relate to each other. If you take the initiative and determination to solve your marital problem, you run less risk of worsening the relationship to a divorce. Here are some tips and advice I learnt which helped me save my marriage quickly and it should help you too!

Accept each other

No marriage is perfect regardless of how much in love a couple is and rough times do happen. Do not expect your partner to be perfect because you are not perfect too. Accepting flaws of each other and expect each other to make mistakes is a good way to have a successful marriage

Learn how to compromise

Don’t let past problems or misunderstandings determine the outcome of your marriage. Personally, I feel that this is the hardest thing most couples encounter. What happened in the past, trying to prove to be right and not give in to one another is the biggest block in maintaining a happy marriage. Learn to forgive and forget.

Good communication is vital

This is the basics of a good marriage and most do not understand that communication is more than ability to talk. Listening skills are just as important so work on that too. Create an environment where both of you can speak your mind clear and calmly. You should be comfortable expressing your thoughts and also listen and don’t dismiss whatever your spouse tells you.

To make your marriage work for you, do not make unreasonable expectations in a marriage. Take responsibility like how I did to save my marriage and do the best for your marriage. It takes a bit of work but the payoff is great!

I get mail so often from people experiencing marriage problems and just want to give up on their marriage so easily. You may be one of them, thinking “When do I stop this horrible relationship, or what should I do?”

Often it is the decision to stay or give up your marriage depends on the your heart. If you disconnect yourself from your spouse and decide that things are over between the both of you, it will happen that way and the relationship will eventually break down into divorce.

However, there are some relationships that are better off ‘letting go’. Many people as when is it time to quit on the marriage and give up and get out of the marriage, you should notice these few pointers I’m about to share with you. You should definitely give up on your marriage if:

• You have to abandon your own goals
• Your relationship separates you and your friends and family
• You are tied down to your marriage and you can’t enjoy your own time
• It changes your principals and self belief
• You are suffering from abuse
• You are always troubled over your marriage problems
• You have no communication with your partner

These are few of the big pointers that your marriage is better of giving up. If you take all your time to think about your marital problems and forget about your own health, mentally or physically, you should definitely seek expert advice. Sometimes it is better to get someone else to tell you how much you are wasting your time and energy on a pointless relationship.

If you are the only one trying to save your marriage, it is also a sign that things will not do well. As I said before, it takes two for a marriage to work. You and your partner have to be proactive and work towards improving your relationship. At the end of the day, you can only control yourself and not your partner’s will.

For example, if you get married to a heavy smoker, you cannot stop them from smoking in a day. Same goes to an alcoholic. Things might go from bad to worse if your partner is involved in an affair. If you are involved in marriage abuse, you should definitely consider giving up on the marriage. If it happens once, it will happen again in the near future.

If you have tried every possible method, changing yourself and trying to make your relationship work but to no avail, then you have no more control over the situation. You might not know it but sometimes a simple word from your partner might change your whole relationship. Don’t give up on yourself in hope of changing for another person. Note that you should not play the waiting game as it may waste your lifetime doing so. Imagine yourself still waiting for the right words to come out from your partner after 10 years.

Remember that you have control over your own life. If you are in a marriage that does not give you happiness, you should start making a wiser choice for yourself. Although it will be a hard decision, you deserve an opportunity to choose the way you want to live.
